Ononuju Irukwu is an Investment Management Professional with over 2 decades of experience in Investment Management & Personal Banking.
She is the Head of Private Banking, FBNBank UK where she oversees the Offshore Banking offering of the Bank for Individual Clients and family offices. Prior to joining FBN Bank UK, she was the Managing Director of Chapel Hill Denham Management Limited, promoters of the Women’s Investment Fund (‘’WIF’’) Nigeria’s first gender mutual Fund, and Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund(NIDF).
Ononuju has had responsibility for the Wealth and Asset Management businesses in some of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions. She has broad based experience in both Personal Banking and Investment Management having spearheaded product development in institutions such as Intercontinental Bank( now Access Bank Plc), Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, FBN Capital Limited and Chapel Hill Denham.
She is passionate about financial literacy and is committed to providing relatable information to the investing public to help them plan, save and grow their investments. Her column, Your Personal wealth in ThisDay Style Magazine ran from 2011 to 2017 and provided easy information and tips for those seeking to gain financial independence. She is an author, having published her book, ‘The Habits of the Financially Wise’ in July 2022 and speaks regularly at seminars and conferences.
She was President of the Fund Managers Association of Nigeria (FMAN) (2017)and chaired the Channels Working Group , Financial Inclusion Technical Committee (FICWG) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) 2016-2018.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (IoD)Nigeria, Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (CISI) UK, Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (CIBN), and the Chairperson , Women in Finance Nigeria, UK Chapter.
